I don’t know if you have noticed, but recently I’ve focused on exploring the streets and creating Urban Landscapes and minimal compositions from street subjects.

This has been one of the greatest changes that have happened to my photography career, this doesn’t mean I will not explore nature anymore, it’s a short or long brake that I’m taking from nature photography after 13 years.

It all started with the death of my grandfather Luis Raul, he was a great influence on me when I was a kid. He died after living long and happy 91 years, he loved photography and still cherish one of his cameras that my mom gave me a few years ago.

After his death I felt depressed and couldn’t go out and capture nature anymore, I couldn’t walk around nature without feeling a hole in my heart and crying nonstop. While staying in and not practicing photography gave me the time to think about my priorities, the world and how I want to live my life.

I realized that beauty is present everywhere and freed me from previows limits and labels that I gave to myseld and my work. “I’m a landscape photographer”, “I’m shy”, “I’m not brave enough to this or that”. From this realization I decided to let my instintcs guide me and explore the world with a new perspective.

I will keep exploring the world with new eyes, and maybe tomorrow I’ll explore portraits or any other kind of photography without limitations. I’m exited about this new adventure and since I started two months ago I haven’t stoped working everyday. I think I’m doing fine, last week I came back from Forth Worth where I delivered a new print from this new portfolio for an art show in the Fort Worth Community Arts Center.

Wish me luck on this “new” adventures and have a nice day!

Carlos
